Pune’s Thaipusang Stadium to get sports gear after death of wrestler

Pune: A new sports equipment shop is set to open in the Thaipsang Stadium in Pune next week, as it will be the first in the city.

The shop will be run by Aamir Khan’s son and former wrestling pro, Rohan, who is the founder of Thaiptu Sports Equipment.

Rohan’s father, Aamirs son, and son-in-law, Poonam, have been in the business since the late 1970s.

Pune-based Thaippu Sports has been making sports equipment for the last 10 years, selling it through various channels and also selling it online.

The company has already opened three shops in Puducherry and one in Jaipur, which will be a two-storey shop with two floors of retail space.

A shop is expected to open by the end of the month.

Thaippusang, which is currently home to the Maharashtra cricket team, will be converted into a sports centre and a training facility.

It is also expected to have a track and field venue.

Thai-origin Thaiphusong Thongbong, the son of the owner of the Pune-headquartered Thaipeu Sports and Fitness Equipment, has been selling sports equipment since 2008.

Aamira Khan, the father of Rohan Khan, has also been a member of Thiipusangs father and son team since the early 1970s, when he was a student at Pune University.
