HONOLULU — The Honolulu pool is finally back in business, thanks to a new facility in the heart of Honolulu’s downtown area.
The Hawaiian pool store, located at 15-17 Waialae St., is now officially open and will sell the equipment it offers.
This is a first for Hawaii’s pool equipment.
There are several pools in Hawaii that sell equipment.
Some are in a state of transition.
Hawaii has had several major pools shut down, and in some cases, closed.
It has been over 30 years since Hawaii had a major pool, and it is only this past week that Hawaii’s newest pool reopened.
With the new facility, Hawaii’s largest pool, which has a capacity of more than 16,000, will be back in the same state where it was in the early 1990s.
“It’s a win-win,” said Mike Muehlenberg, the Honolulu City Council member who owns the Hawaii pool.
“We’re getting back to the old ways.
And the pool is open, so we’re going to get back to a normal life.”
This story is the latest in a series that highlights the changing face of Hawaii’s economy.
