Lubbock (CBSDFW.COM) — The biggest salary of any NFL player is $18.6 million, according to data released Thursday by the NFL Players Association.
That puts NFL players at No. 3 among the 30 major sports leagues, behind only the NFL’s Cleveland Browns, who make $11.8 million.
The top three in each of the other five major sports — Major League Baseball, Major League Soccer, Major College Basketball and Major League Hockey — have all posted earnings of more than $18 million, while the NBA is second with a $12.7 million salary.NFL players in the NFL combine are paid $20 million to play in the league’s two major exhibition games, which are held annually in Indianapolis and Orlando.
The league also has a rookie minicamp that lasts two weeks in January.

did not release details of its salary-cap calculations, but the salary cap will be $64 million this season.
