Health officials are warning consumers to be on the lookout for sports medicine gear, after a Florida man allegedly had a stroke while trying to sell his wife’s equipment.
The Miami Herald reports that 32-year-old Matthew O’Connor was taken to the hospital Sunday after having a seizure in his wife, 26-year, who lives in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
Her husband had bought her equipment in hopes that it would prevent her from falling behind.
The couple had planned to sell the items and donate the proceeds to a charity in their honor.
When they were unable to complete the transaction, they called 911 and were treated for a stroke.
The Herald reports O’Connors wife is in stable condition and he is in critical condition.
